Monday, October 9, 2017

The goal of the liquid products storage terminal whose construction has started at the port of Caldera, Puntarenas, is to provide storage services for chemical products such as solvents, and vegetable and animal and oils. The company in charge of the project has not ruled out requesting permits to store other products, like fuels in the future.

Fernando Odio, president of the Caldera Liquid Terminal explained to Elfinancierocr.com that "... this is a $4.6 million investment in two stages, which is being carried out with two other partners, with fully Costa Rican capital. The project will be located 800 meters north of Riteve de Puntarenas, in Barranca."

"... It will be divided into two phases: the first consists of six tanks of 825 cubic meters each and is the one where construction has already started. It is estimated to be ready for February or March 2018, at a cost of $3.8 million.  The second phase will be the construction of 4 tanks of the same size, in which the other $1.2 million will be invested. The plan is to start it in April 2018 and finish it four months later."

This will be the first service of its kind in the Pacific. There are already two others on the Atlantic coast.
