Imports by country 
Last year, the main buyer of trucks with cargo capacity greater than 5 tons and less than 20 tons in Central America was Guatemala, with $49 million, followed by Panama, with $47 million, Costa Rica, with $39 million, Nicaragua, with $32 million, Honduras, with $20 million and El Salvador, with $12 million. 

Variation of regional imports 
Between 2015 and 2016, the value of light freight trucks imported into Central America grew by 21%, equivalent to $34 million in value.

Chinese truck purchases have grown steadily in the last 5 years, rising from $4 million in 2012 to $10 million in 2016.

Origin of imports 
In 2016, 50% of the value imported from Central America came from Japan, 22% from the USA, 10% from Mexico and 5% from China.

Japan is the country of origin of Central American imports that has grown the most in the last 4 years, since in 2013 it represented 40% of the total value bought and in 2016 the figure rose to 50%.
