Light Duty Vehicles: Main Brands in Central America

Toyota, Nissan and Isuzu represented almost 60% of the light freight vehicles circulating in the countries of the region at the end of 2018.

An analysis of CentralAmericaData's Trade Intelligence unit provides details on the characteristics of the different vehicles transiting the streets of Central American countries.

By brand at regional level
According to records of the Central American vehicle fleet, of the total number of vehicles used for the transport of light freight circulating in the countries of the region, about 33% corresponds to the Mazda, Ford and Mitsubishi brands.

By brand and country
Of the total number of light freight vehicles circulating in Costa Rica at the end of 2018, 77% were of the Toyota, Nissan, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Kia and Ford brands.

In the case of Guatemala, the main brands are Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Ford Isuzu, Mitsubishi and Chevrolet, representing nearly 90% of the total units currently in circulation.

In El Salvador, the brands Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Isuzu and Mitsubishi are reported to cover most of the fleet, representing 73% of the total units of light-duty vehicles.
