Less Inflation in Panama

In July the consumer price index declined by 0.8% compared to the previous month, with a year over year inflation of 2.2% up to July.

From a report by the National Institute of Statistics and Census in Panama:

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July compared to June 2014, recorded a low of 0.8 percent in both the National Urban Area and for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and 0.9 percent in the Other Urban Areas. Compared with June 2013, an increase of 2.2 percent in both the National Urban Areas as well as in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and 2.4 percent in the Other Urban Areas was observed. So far this year, the National Urban CPI showed a cumulative increase of 1.4 percent.

The division of the CPI for July which showed decreases were, Food and beverages with 3.1 percent, mainly due to a decrease in the price of rice, vegetables and dried vegetables. However, the divisions which had increases were: Miscellaneous goods and services with 1.8 percent, due to an increase in the price of passports; Health with 0.6 percent, due to an increase in the price of specialist medical consultations; Furniture, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house and Transport with 0.4 percent due to increases in the price of white goods and fuel, respectively.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in September 2013 , compared to the previous month, registered an increase of 0.1 % , both in the National Urban are, and for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito, while for the rest Urban areas, it was 0.2 %. Compared to September 2012, there was an increase of 3.9 % for the National Urban area and for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito 3.8 %, and 4.3 % in the Other Urban. So far this year, the National Urban CPI reflects a cumulative variation of 3.3%.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in August compared with July 2013, increased by 0.3% in National Urban, for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito it was 0.2% and for Other Urban Areas 0.4%.

Inter Annual Inflation in Panama reaches 5.3%

November 2012

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in October 2012 compared to October 2011 showed an increase of 5.1% in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and 5.7 percent in other urban areas.

A statement from the National Institute of Statistics and Census reads:

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in October compared to September showed a monthly rise of 0.1 percent for both the National Urban as well as the districts of Panama and San Miguelito, while for the remaining urban areas there was a variation of 0.3 percent. Compared with October 2011, there was an increase of 5.3 percent in National Urban, 5.1 percent in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito and 5.7 percent in other urban areas. So far this year, the National Urban CPI recorded a cumulative variation of 4.1 percent.

Panama: Inflation at 6.5% in June

July 2011

The recording is the highest in the last two years as a result of rising prices for transportation, food and beverages.

The change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June compared to May 2011 showed an increase in the National Urban of 0.1 percent and Other Urban 0.8 percent, and for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito a decrease of 0.1 percent.
