Between January and September 2018, countries in the region imported $314 million in laptops and similar devices, 16% more than in the same period in 2017.

Costa Rica, main buyer
During the first nine months of 2018 the main importer of laptops and tablets in Central America was Costa Rica with $119 million, followed by Guatemala with $71 million, Panama with $46 million, El Salvador with $39 million, Honduras with $25 million and Nicaragua with $14 million.

Regional business upwards
Between the first nine months of 2017 and the same period in 2018, the value imported into the region increased 16%, from $271 million to $314 million.

For the periods concerned, imports from China increased 76%, from $62 million to $110 million.

Origin of imports
From January to September 2018, 50% of the value imported into the region was from the USA, 35% from China, 1% from Portugal, 1% from Vietnam and 1% from Spain.

April 2019

From January to September 2018, imports of electric motors and generators totaled $195 million, 80% more than in the same period in 2017, because of purchases from El Salvador from Spanish companies.

The countries of the region imported $104 million in laptops and similar devices between January and March 2018, 13% more than in the same period in 2017.
