From a statement issued by Agexport:

The business and industrial sector in Central America, the Caribbean and South America made use in 2016 of the services provided by certificated Guatemalan laboratories for analysis of food, hydrocarbons, pesticide residues, environmental analysis, occupational health, textile testing, pest diagnostics, plant nutrition and calibration of measuring equipment, all of which generated foreign exchange of more than US $25 million.

The Commission of Laboratories at AGEXPORT groups together companies that generate and verify information for the export sector to make the best decisions regarding the quality of products, processes, raw materials or legal procedures. The merit of these Guatemalan professionals is that other countries have managed to entrust their laboratory analysis to Guatemala. At the close of this year, the Sector estimated foreign exchange earnings of over US $25 million from export of services provided to exporters in South America, the Caribbean and Central America.
