La Unión Port Concession Not Before 2012

Drafting a law decree for giving La Unión's operation under concession could take more than two years.

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

This was stated by the Executive Autonomous Port Commission (CEPA), who considered the estimated length of the technical feasibility study by the Japanese International Cooperation Bank, which will start in October.

"The estimated time could be shortened, but it depends on the transparency of the process. It must allow everyone to be clear and sure of what is being done", reports ElSalvador.com. "CEPA repeated yesterday that the port will begin operations in the first quarter of 2010, but discarded that this could negatively affect Acajutla, which will continue receiving liquid and bulk products, as it is done today".
