International Tender: Roadwork Supervision

The National Concessions Council of Costa Rica tenders the services to monitor compliance with the operation of the Concession Contract for the San José-Caldera Highway and the construction phase of the expansion of that route.

Costa Rican Government Purchase 2020LI-000001-0008400001:

"The Contractor shall provide the professional services of specialized technical consultancy to guarantee the fulfillment of the obligations defined in the Concession Contract, both in the exploitation process in which the contract is currently underway, and in the construction stage for the expansion of the awarded route, working as the technical arm in the analysis and management of each of the technical, legal, financial and economic aspects that make up the Concession Contract.

The Contract includes all the tasks required to comply with each of the responsibilities and functions defined in this Contract and supplementing the Concession Contract, in order to support and advise the management of the Project Management and the Technical Secretariat in the administration of the Concession Contract.

The Contractor shall monitor that the Concessionaire, in all the processes of construction of works, has the services of a certified self-control laboratory that guarantees the quality of the materials and processes used and issues the corresponding quality certificates."

Expansion of Route 27: Restart Negotiations

April 2019

In Costa Rica, discussions have continued to plan the expansion of the route from San José to Caldera, and it is estimated that the works will require about $600 million in investment.

The 77-kilometer road has been operated by Globalvia since its opening, and according to the authorities' forecasts, if the project were to be executed, work would begin in 2021, which would have a five-year duration divided into different phases.

The Ministry of Public Works of Panama tenders the restoration and widening of the road La Concepción - Cuesta Piedra - Volcán, in the province of Chiriquí.

"The project has a 66.2 kilometer length; however, the Tenderer Entity may determine works within the execution of the fieldwork that are detected as required, which have not been defined in the terms of reference and plans, to ensure connectivity and integrity of road networks and/or for accessibility to basic services.

Tender for Construction of Highway Postponed

March 2018

In Guatemala, the presentation of bids in the tender for the renovation and operation of the Escuintla-Puerto Quetzal highway, with toll collection, has been postponed until April 5.

The National Agency of Partnerships for the Development of Economic Infrastructure announced that " ... following a consultation and clarification process for the tender event ... it was decided that the deadline for receiving bids needed to be extended, a modification which has been established in Addendum number 1 to the Bidding Terms."

Costa Rica: Extension of Route 27 to Six Lanes

January 2017

The project must take into consideration the extension to three lanes in each direction of the stretch from Sabana to Ciudad Colón, including bridges, construction of drainage and other works.

The National Concessions Council (CNC) is waiting for the concessionaire Autopistas del Sol to present a proposal with details of the enlargement, after a study concluded that Route 27 is saturated by 70%.
