International Mining Congress in Nicaragua

On August 16 and 17, 2018 companies in the international mining industry will be gathering together in Managua, to take part in business conferences and discuss issues related to the sector.

The event is being organized by the Mining Chamber of Nicaragua and is expected to involve mining companies from all of the countries in Central America, and Canada, the United States, Colombia, Australia, England and Argentina. 

The congress will be held at the Olof Palme Convention Center, which is located near the Agusto C. Sandino International Airport.

Mining: $25 Million Investment Announced

Plantel Los Angeles, a mixed capital company operating in Chontales, Nicaragua, plans to invest $25 million in the construction of three new raw gold processing plants.

The company, which will invest in the new processing plants, caters exclusively to producers who are classified as artisanal miners.

Nicaragua: $100 Million Invested in Gold Mines

Canada's Calibre Mining bought from B2Gold Nicaragua, the El Limón and La Libertad gold mines, as well as the Pavon project and other concessions, in a transaction that totaled $100 million.

The El Limón and La Libertad mines have produced more than 1.4 million ounces of gold since 2010, and their combined production of gold in 2019 is projected to be between 150,000 and 160,000 ounces, the company said in a statement.

Nicaragua and the New Mining Law

June 2017

The Assembly is preparing to approve a bill that creates the Nicaraguan Mining Company (Empresa Nicaragüense de Minas), which will be able to participate in exploration and exploitation activities carried out by companies who have received concessions.

In addition to the possibility of participating directly in activities carried out by concessionaire companies, once the law is approved, the Nicaraguan Mining Company (ENIMINAS), "... will have as its objective the execution and development of exploration and rational exploitation of the country's mining resources. "

Nicaragua Wants More Mining Investment

The union of mining companies is promoting the arrival of new foreign investments in order to achieve greater development and formalization of metal mining in the country.

The president of the Mining Chamber of Nicaragua (Caminic), Sergio Rios, presented  to foreign businessmen the characteristics and conditions offered by the country's for mining investments and invited them to invest in the country and take advantage of its geological potential.
