International Crafts Fair in Guatemala

On September 23rd-25th business meetings will be held in Antigua between international buyers and Guatemalan handicrafts companies.

From a statement issued by the Government of Guatemala:

The handmade crafts sector, made up of 70 percent female workers, is seeking to increase exports to major international markets, where they are recognized for their creativity.

Over one million Guatemalans, mostly indigenous communities are engaged in craft-making, the quality of which is number one in Central America and in Latin America competes for top place with Mexico, Colombia and Peru, said Hugo Cabrera, of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport).

Cabrera, president of the Commission of Handicrafts Workers at Agexport said the business entity supports the handicrafts sector in increasing exports and expanding its presence in key international markets.

250 international buyers are expected to do business with craftsmen and manufacturing companies in the two trade fairs scheduled for September 26 and 27 in Guatemala.

A call has gone out to SMEs from the sectors of food and beverages, hygiene and personal care, home cleaning, plastic products, cosmetics, and other diverse manufacturers to take part in the business conference that will take place on the 26th and 27th of September 2018 in Antigua, Guatemala.

Sectors such as handicrafts expect to do business at a two-day event, called New World Craft.

Besides this event, the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport) is organizing for its members to take part in the Service Summit convention, where sectors such as call centers, digital content development, sustainable tourism and health, among others, estimate business of $25 million will be done.

Guatemala Hosts II Central American Crafts Fair

The fair, which brings together artisans from the region, will be held on September 29 and 30, in Antigua City.

The President of the Crafts Commission of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (AGEXPORT), Santos Rosales, confirmed that guests from Colombia and possibly the Caribbean will be present.
