Increased Production of Alcoholic Beverages

In 2011, 237.57 million liters of spirits were produced in Panama, up 6% from a year earlier.

The production of alcoholic beverages increased in 2011 to 237,570,000 gallons, a growth of 6.1% compared to 2010.

The registration period covers January to November last year. In the same period in 2010, there were 223, 826,000 liters produced, reported Prensa.com.

Increased tourism and economic growth are factors that have helped to stimulate more production and more consumption.

The collection of excise tax (ISC) on beverages by the government also reveals the contribution of the liquor industry. Last year, on beer alone, the State raised $32,715,000 compared to 2010 when the contribution was $31,024,000.

In January, 26.4 million liters of alcoholic beverages were produced, 2% more than the production registered in the same month in 2017, led by an increase in the production of gin.

According to figures from the General Comptroller of the Republic, production of alcoholic beverages in general registered a year-on-year increase of 2%, rising from 25.6 million liters in January 2017, to 26.4 million liters in the same month in 2018.

Production of Alcoholic Beverages Up 8%

November 2017

Between January and October 2017, 254 thousand liters of alcoholic beverages were produced in Panama, 8% more than was registered in production in the same period in 2016.

According to figures from the Comptroller General of the Republic, production of alcoholic beverages in the first ten months of 2017 increased 8% in year-on-year terms, rising from 235 thousand liters between January and October 2016, to 254 thousand liters in the same period in 2017.

Panama: Production of Alcoholic Beverages Up 4.5%

August 2014

In the first six months of the year 141 million liters of alcoholic beverages were produced, of which 95% was beer.

Production in the first half of the year exceeded by 4.5% the amount produced in the same period in 2013, with a monthly average production of 22.51 million liters, according to figures from the Comptroller General of the Republic.

Local liquor production has gone down and there is a greater presence of foreign brands in a market worth $300 million a year.

In recent years the liquor market in Panama has seen changes in its composition, with domestic goods losing ground to imported ones.

According to figures from the Comptroller General of the Republic cited in an article on Capital.com.pa, "the production of alcoholic beverages in Panama last year grew by just 0.1% compared with 2012."
