Increase in extraction of gold and silver in Guatemala

In 2008, there was an increase of 22.8% and 17.9% in monetary terms in the extraction of gold and silver respectively, compared to 2007.

Invertia reports: "This is according to reports in the local press on Monday based on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mining.

Gold production increased slightly in 2008 to 229,996 troy ounces, 1.2% more than in 2007, while silver increased by 6.8%."

Panama: Concession for Gold and Silver Mining

The mining company Cerro Quema has received the concession for mining gold and silver in the region of Cerro Quema.

According to the general manager of Metales Procesados MRW S.A., Donald Brown, the suit against the Costa Rican government was filed last May but the information had not been released until now.

Guatemala: 75% Increase in Amount of Minerals Exported

Due to the rising prices of gold and silver, the amount exported in the first quarter increased from $100 million in 2010 to $177 million in 2011.

The upward trend in exports was already reflected last year in 2010, when they showed an increase of 52% in monetary terms in relation to 2009.

Guatemala: Marlin Mine Production to Increase 35%

Goldcorp plans to increase production from 296.100 ounces of gold in 2010 to 400.000 in 2011.

If the goal is met, it would be the second highest percentage growth.

Sigloxxi.com reports in their article, "the company, owner of Montana Exploradora, which operates Marlin, estimates it will produce in 2011 between 2.65 million and 2.75 million ounces of gold in all of their mines, in which the Guatemalan operation would contributes less than half a million ounces, the second in volume for the multinational."
