Improved Tax Collection in Guatemala

The simplification of procedures and the use of technology has made it easier for taxpayers to pay taxes, resulting in an increase of 16% in revenue.

Miguel Gutierrez, head of the Tax Authority (SAT), said that of the 1,200 existing forms to file and pay taxes, there are currently only 87 and the intention is to reduce them to 15 this year.

"The official stressed that in January tax collection reached Q4.5 billion ($571 million), an increase of 16 percent versus Q3.8 billion ($482 million) in the same month of 2012. This growth exceeded the target of Q4.1 billion ($520 million).

Nicaragua: Tax Collection Up 21%
