Imports by country
In the first half of 2018, the largest importer of printing machines and devices in Central America was Guatemala with $46 million, followed by Costa Rica with $41 million, Panama with $37 million, El Salvador with $29 million, Honduras with $20 million and Nicaragua with $9 million.

Origin of imports
During the first six months of the year, 47% of the value imported from Central America was from the U.S., 15% from China, 6% from Japan, 5% from Germany and 3% from Vietnam.

During the first semester of the last seven years, the U.S. is the source market of imports that has decreased the most, since in 2012 it represented 70% of the total value purchased and in 2018 that proportion fell to 47%.

Variation of regional imports
Between the first half of 2017 and the same period in 2018, the total value imported into Central America increased 3%, from $179 million to $184 million. This increase contrasts with the 3% drop recorded for the months concerned in 2016 and 2017.
