Changes in imports  
Between 2015 and 2016 the import value of iron and steel sheets in Honduras fell by 44%, shrinking from $228 million in 2015 to $124 million in 2016. 

However, in the last 3 years imports of sheets from Guatemala doubled, increasing from $7 million in 2014 to $15 million in 2016.

Origin of imports 
In 2016, 69% of the imported value came from China, 12% from Guatemala, 7% from Japan, 3% from El Salvador, 2% from South Korea and 2% from Costa Rica.

China is the home market for imports which has grown the most in the last 5 years. In 2012 it represented 29% of the total value imported, and last year the figure rose to 69%. 

Observation:
The items included in the report are flat rolled products made of iron or non-alloy steel, hot and cold rolled, coated, laminated and unlaminated, with an upper width, less than or equal to 600 mm, among others.
