Changes in imports 
From 2012 to 2016 the value of imports of iron and steel sheets from Costa Rica decreased to an annual average of 11%. However, the value imports from China registered a considerable increase, going from $15 million imported in 2013 to $69 million in 2016.

Origin of imports 
In 2016, 43% of the value imported from Costa Rica came from China, 26% from Japan, 5% from Guatemala, 4% from Honduras, and 4% from Mexico.

Behavior of imports
Between January 2012 and December 2016, the month that registered the highest monthly import value was March 2014, when Costa Rica bought $34 million, while the month with the lowest figure was April 2016, with $7 million.
