Changes in imports  
Between 2015 and 2016 the import value of soups and their preparations in El Salvador increased from $22 million to $23 million in 2016.

Between 2015 and 2016 the value imported from the USA went up 3%, going from $9 million to $10 million, and from Guatemala they went up 4%, going from $11 million to $12 million.

Origin of imports 
In 2016, 52% of the value imported from El Salvador came from Guatemala, 44% from the US, 3% from Honduras and 1% from Mexico.

The US is the market of origin of imports that has grown the most in the last 3 years.  In 2014 it represented 39% of the total import value, and last year the figure reached 44%.

Last year Central America imported $316 million worth of sauces and preparations, the highest value in the last six years, registering an increase of 9% compared to 2016.
