Ajemaya, bottler of the Big Cola brand, has begun selling the Peruvian brand Franca.

The beer is being sold in shops and restaurants around the country, and targets the premium consumer segment.

"The beer market is dominated by Cerveceria Centro Americana and to a lesser extent, by AmBev, distributer of Extra and Brahva, which claims a market share of 20 percent." noted an article in Elperiodico.com.gt

'Cervecería Costa Rica' Expands China Distribution

Since entering the Chinese market in January, the Costa Rican brewer has expanded its reach to six provinces.

To date they have exported 50 containers, each one with 1.512 boxes of 24 bottles, reported Gisela Sánchez, company executive.

"The company [Florida Ice & Farm] entered China by signing an alliance with brewer Tsingtao and also with distribution company Powsun, one of the top dealers of that brand in the Asian country", reported Nacion.com.

Guatemalan Brewer Invests $3 Million

"Cervecería Centro Americana" inaugurated two new warehouses in the departments of Huehuetenango and Escuintla.

The new facilities will provide employment for 240 people, counting direct and indirect jobs.

"As part of its expansion strategy, the brewer is planning similar projects in Retalhuleu, Cobán, San Marcos and Quiché", reported website Sigloxxi.com.

Brewery allince unites Costa Ricans and Guatemalans

An alliance between Cervecería Centroamericana de Guatemala and Cervecería Costa Rica will allow the two to expand the range of options available to beer drinkers.

The agreement seeks to satisfy the demand for new products in the brewing niche of both countries. They plan to do this with the appearance in the Costa Rican market of the Gallo brand, and of the Imperial brand in Guatemala.
