IDB approves $90 million loan for Nicaragua

The funds are to be used for the rural production reactivation program and for poverty alleviation programs for Nicaragua's poorest.

The president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Luis Alberto Moreno, expressed Sunday in Nicaragua their willingness to continue supporting the government of Daniel Ortega in energy development, rural production and food crisis relief projects.

It has been announced that the IDB will provide a $90 million loan to finance road infrastructure in the country.

From a statement issued by the Inter-American Development Bank:

Nicaragua will improve connectivity in rural areas with a US $90.7 million loan approved by the IDB.

IDB Freezes Loans to Honduras

The Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) will immediately receive $250 million as a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). These funds are the first half of $500 million requested by the state from the IDB. The other $250 million will be used when necessary.

Guatemala seeks US$600 million in IADB funding

Guatemala's government is negotiating two programs for a total of US$600 million with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), President Álvaro Colom said.

"We've been working with the IADB ever since we won the election, Colom told reporters after a lunch with IADB president Luis Alberto Moreno at the bank's Washington offices.
