ICE Invites Tenders for $5.7 Million Bus Purchase

Costa Rica's state-owned electricity and telecommunications provider (ICE) is to purchase 26 coaches and the relevant training services.

According to the bid documents, ICE will buy:
- 5 tourist coaches worth $1.64 million
- 21 urban buses worth $4.07 million

All should be 4x2 with a maximum manufacturer's operational weight between 5,200 and 6,100 kilograms.

Training services worth $10,000 are also being tendered for to instruct ICE operators and technicians in the running and maintenance of the vehicles.

Offers can be received from 28 September.

Tender for 70 Buses Postponed

In Panama the company MiBus has announced that the new date for receipt of bids in the tender to supply 70 buses for the urban transport system is now 5 October.

In the tender for $9 million the original date was September 11, but MiBus authorities modified the tender conditions and now the new date is October 5.

Transporte Masivo de Panamá is putting out to tender a supply of 70 medium-sized buses for the transporting passengers in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito.

"Some characteristics of the buses required:

-4-stroke diesel engine of minimum 6 liters, minimum 250 HP and heat exchanger with European emission regulations EURO III.

Volvo Do Brasil Vehículos won the contract to supply 203 buses for operation of the system for mass mobilization of passengers in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito.

Data from CentralAmericaData's information system indicates that Transporte Masivo de Panamá, S.A. awarded the contract by an exceptional recruitment procedure, with an amount of $35,859,138. 

$ 30 Million for Honduran Public Transport

Honduras will implement a modern public transport system in the Central District and improve the quality of life for residents of major urban centers with a loan of U.S. $ 30 million approved by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
