Hotels: New Competitor in El Salvador

Hilton Hotels & Resorts signed an agreement to open a new facility at the Captalino World Trade Center complex by mid-2020.

Hilton San Salvador will have 198 rooms, 27 meeting rooms, two ballrooms, two boardrooms and 16 meeting units. The building is located in Colonia Escalon.

Mario Carbone, Hilton's Managing Director of Development for Mexico and Central America, told that "... By receiving more than two million visitors last year, El Salvador's capital city has experienced steady growth in visitor arrivals, making Hilton San Salvador an important complement to our growing portfolio."

Figures from the Ministry of Tourism indicate that between 2018 and 2019 the number of tourists visiting El Salvador increased by nearly 4% from 2.5 million to 2.6 million.

Regarding tourist spending, Salvadoran authorities estimate that income left by visitors who arrived to the country during the last year amounted to $1.777 million, an amount that exceeds by 16% that registered in 2018.

Hotel Supply Grows in El Salvador

August 2017

The 130-room Marriott Fairfield hotel started operations at the La Gran Vía shopping center in San Salvador.

With an investment of $17 million, the developer Urbánica opened the doors of the new Marriott Fairfield hotel. The property will focus on the business tourism segment as does the Marriott Courtyard, developed in the same area.
