Hotel occupancy information for El Salvador

The Ministry of Tourism officially presented the Data Tour Statistics Information System.

The system, financed through an agreement with the Secretariat of Tourism in Mexico (SECTUR) is a tool which will facilitate, generate and use statistics from the Salvadoran Hotel Sector.

The article by Guadalupe Hernandez on says that: "The model, which was officially delivered by Sector to Ruben Rochi, minister of Tourism and President of the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation, which will allow the measuring of 21 indicators for the Hotel industry. These include: average stay, rooms registered, tourist arrival, rooms available and others.

Panama: Hotel Occupancy Rate dropped to 48% in 2016

Between 2015 and 2016 the average occupancy rate went from 52% to 48%, while the total supply of rooms decreased from 10,451 to 10,369.

Figures from the General Comptroller of Panama indicate that the downward trend in hotel occupancy was maintained throughout 2016, with the month of December recording an average percentage of 47.7%. 

Hotel Market Statistics in Costa Rica

Up to December 2015 2.559 hotels with 47,452 rooms were registered in the country, of which 70% are located in the city and at the beach.

Market figures have not yet reached the levels recorded before the crisis of 2008, when the Costa Rican Chamber of Hotels counted 2,599 hotels in operation, spread across different areas of the country, but are instead concentrated in the large metropolitan area and coastal areas.

2013-2014 Analysis of Tourism in Guatemala

Despite recovery since the years immediately following the crisis of 2008, the average hotel occupancy rate for 2013 stands at only 55%.

From a report by the Association for Research and Social Studies (ASIES):

"... In Guatemala, the average age of a hotel is ten years old. However, there are several hotel companies over 30 years old, denoting their ability to transcend time. "

Panama: Hotel Supply Exceeds Demand

More rooms on offer will mean a 50% occupancy rate for hotels in the coming year.

Just this year over 600 rooms have joined the market with the openings of various hotels like the Trump, Victoria and Hilton Doubletree.

Hotel industry projections indicated that in October there would be an increase of 4% as a result of the climate change convention held in the capital city that month, but the occupancy rate reached 62.3% while in same month of 2010 it was 68.4%.
