Hospital Tender Delayed

The tender to build and equip the new Santo Tomás hospital in Panama, whose publication was originally scheduled for June this year, has still not been held.

In March of this year the Ministry of Health gave assurances that the construction and equipment of the hospital would be tendered in June, but it has not even been able to complete the design and study stage. This part of the process should have been completed in March, but "... after an addendum and setbacks, it's still not finished."

Iveth Olmos, Infrastructure Director at the Ministry of Health, told Prensa.com that "... this is a project that requires time, but the planning and studies stage will be finished in December."

In the design and studies stage, "...The works, which also include a new maternity ward for Sant Tomás Hospital, are the responsibility of the Hospital del Niño (DHN) design consortium, composed of the companies Pinearq SLP and Ayesa Ingeniería y Arquitectura S.A., and currently they are four months behind schedule."

The resolution of the award was published on December 31, 2015, after a reassessment of all of proposals at the request of four participants.

Panama: Children's Hospital Project Resumed

An announcement has been made for the start of a tender for the design of the plans, with an estimated value of between $8 million and $10 million.

After announcing that the second tender specifications will be published in late 2014 , the Ministry of Health is still working on the development of the specifications for the design of plans for the project .
