Hospital Infrastructure: $340 Million Investment

In 2019, 20 environmental impact studies were submitted to build hospitals, clinics and other health care centers in the countries of the region, projects valued at $340 million.

The interactive platform "Construction in Central America", of the Trade Intelligence Unit of CentralAmericaData, includes an updated list of public and private construction projects that present environmental impact studies (EIS) to the respective institutions in each country.

Panama was the country that last year concentrated the largest investment, with nearly $179 million in infrastructure construction projects to provide medical services, corresponding to five environmental impact studies submitted from January to December 2019. One of the most relevant projects is the construction of a five-level hospital.

In Costa Rica, eight studies were presented, totaling about $114 million in investment. Among the buildings that stand out is the "Hospital Dr. Maximiliano Peralta Jiménez."

In El Salvador, three hospital projects are planned that will require some $35 million in investment. In the case of Guatemala, studies were processed for the construction of several health posts.

CentralAmericaData has information on the construction projects planned in all Central American countries, with details such as estimated investment, project times and phases, inputs and equipment that will be required during and after construction, water treatment, parking structure, among others.

During 2019, 56 environmental impact studies for the construction of industrial plants were presented in Central American countries, and Costa Rica represented 58% of the estimated investment.

Commercial Construction: $500 Million in New Investments

August 2019

In the first quarter of the year, 127 environmental impact studies were presented for the construction of commercial buildings in Central American countries, with Costa Rica and Guatemala representing most of the estimated investment.
