Honduras companies prepare to export to Canada

More than 30 small businesses on the Atlantic coast are preparing to meet the requirments and quality controls they need for exporting to Canada.

"We have two permanent training programs in foreign trade to help small companies export to my country," said Lidia Karamaoun, a Canadian trade officer in charge of special projects.
"At the moment there are nine companies that are doing it satisfactorily in the sector of fruits and fresh vegetables, after having taken part in trade shows." she said.

Costa Rica: Sanitary Registration Problems Resolved

The Costa Rican Chamber of the Food Industry has affirmed that problems and delays in the registration process have temporarily been resolved.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade (COMEX) and the Foreign Trade Promoter (Procomer) are developing the concept of modernizing the Single Desk for Foreign Trade, and expect to go into operation next year.

The Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promoter (Procomer) will centralize the process of control of origin and certifications for all FTAs.

The new rules apply to free trade agreements signed with China, Caricom, the partial one with Venezuela, and the European Union, said Luis Obando from the Chamber of Industries.
