Honduras Third Largest Coffee Exporter in the World

In the first half of 2012, Honduras overtook Colombia and India as a coffee exporter, taking third place.

According to data from the International Coffee Organization, Honduras, together with India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Brazil, moved Colombia into sixth position in terms of coffee exports.

The total exports from Honduras was 3.8 million bags of 60 kilos each, while Colombia reached 3.4 million bags.

"Brazil, meanwhile, lost its global supremacy to Vietnam, which has dabbled heavily in this market for several years.

During the first half of the year, Vietnam's exports reached 14.3 million bags and Brazil, to 12.6 million. Honduras exported 3.8 million bags, and Colombia, 3.4 million", reported Portafolio.com.
