Honduras: TV Frequency Allocation Completed

The National Telecommunications Commission has awarded another 5 regional digital television channels completing the concessionary awards of 18 frequencies and raising a total of $5 million.

Channel 47 in zone 1 and with coverage in Francisco Morazán, was acquired by Publicaciones y Noticias S.A. (Publynsa) who offered $294,000. The auction for channel 46 was declared invalid and for 49 there were no bidders. These two also had coverage of Francisco Morazán and the price tag was $294,000.

Laprensa.hn reports: "In area 5, which covers Ocotepeque, Santa Barbara, Lempira, Copán and the municipality of Santa Cruz de Yojoa, in the department of Cortes, channel 27 was awarded to the Corporación Centroamericana de Comunicaciones SA CV for $270,000, and its base price $260 mil ".

In the same area, channel 45 was awarded to Señales Digitales de Honduras S.A., who paid $264,800 with the base price being $259,900. In zone 9 channel 40 was awarded to Publynsa for $269,000 and channel 41 to Señales Digitales also for $269,000.

The National Telecommunications Commission has convened a public tender to operate a Free Television Broadcasting service in different parts of the country.

The tender conditions will be available from June 24 until July 5 at the Conatel offices operating in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula for the amount of $246.
