Honduras: Remittances Increase 11% up to June 2019

In the first six months of this year, the country received $2.685 million in family remittances, an amount 11% higher than that reported in the same period in 2018.

Figures from the Central Bank of Honduras show that between January and June 2018 and the same period this year the flow of family remittances grew by $266 million, from $2.419 million to $2.685 million.

Laprensa.hn reports that "... Only in June, Honduras received some 425 million dollars from its residents abroad, mainly in the United States, a figure lower than the 441 million dollars of the previous month."

The article adds that "... According to official data, 80% of the remittances sent to Honduras come mostly from immigrants living in the United States."

Nicaragua: Remittances Up 8% in July 2018

In the first seven months of the year, the country received $849 million in the form of remittances sent from abroad, registering an increase of 8% compared to the same period in 2017.

The Central Bank of Nicaragua reported that remittances totaled 124.4 million dollars in July (US $122.4 million in July 2017), which meant a year-on-year variation of 1.6%.

Honduras: 9% Increase in Remittances up to June 2018

During the first six months of 2018, remittances received from abroad totaled $2.349 billion, 9% more than in the same period in 2017.

According to figures from the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH), between the first half of 2018 and the same period in 2017, the country increased the volume of remittances received, rising from $2.156 billion to $2.349 billion.
