Honduras: Public Automobile Auction

The Honduran Executive Revenue Office (DEI in Spanish) has announced a public auction of cars to be held 12 August.

The auction will take place in the National Port Authority's (ENP) facilities.

Samples of vehicles to be auctioned will be on display in the ENP's customs facilities in the ports of Cortes and Castilla, as well as in San Pedro Sula, from 9 to 11 August between 9am and 4pm.

El Salvador and the Used Car Trade

Between 2014 and 2016 the import of used cars grew by 65%, while new car imports rose by 9% in the same period.

The difference in prices is the main factor behind the exponential growth recorded in imports of used cars in El Salvador. Data from the General Directorate of Customs shows that in 2014 24,735 used vehicles came into the country, while in 2016 the figure rose to 41,000.

Costa Rica Imports 192 Vehicles Per Day

Although it has not yet reached pre-crisis 2008 figures, imports of vehicles continue to grow, with 47,750 units imported in the first eight months of the year.

The Association of Importers of Vehicles and Equipment reported the entry between January and August of 47,750 units, of which 26,561 correspond to new cars and the remaining 21,190 were used ones.

Imports of Used Cars Down 63%

In Guatemala the entry into force of the new tax on initial registrations caused the number of used cars imported in July 2012 to drop to 2055 from the 5583 reported in the same month in 2011.

Moreover, in the first seven months of the year, 37 502 used cars came into the country, which is 3.2% less than the 38,754 admitted in the same period in 2011.

On-line Auction of Honduran Coffee

The yellow-grain “Tatuai” brand was valued at $22.05 for every pound of export quality coffee.

Sponsored by the Honduran Coffee Institute (Ihcafe), the auction was held at the end of the seventh round of the Coffee Excellence Cup.

Ihcafe’s technical director, Mario Ordóñez, was reportedly pleased because the auction enabled a record price of $22.05 per pound to be obtained after being sent to 125 international purchasers, says Latribuna.hn.
