Honduras Negotiating $134 million for Road

The government is negotiating with the IDB over using the proceeds of a loan signed in 2010 to build 172 kilometers of roads in the south.

Friday, November 28, 2014

The project includes the construction of the CA5-South highway, which includes the Tegucigalpa-Choluteca sections which is 132 kilometers long and Jícaro Trouser Amatillo, 40 kilometers long. The aim is to finance them with the remains of the 2470 / BL-HO loan "Program for expansion and modernization of Puerto Cortés", "... of which only $911,106 has been disbursed."

National Party Congressman Tomas Zambrano told Laprensa.hn that ".... The south of the country has the opportunity to have a modern highway, which hopefully will be started quickly if it gains the support of the executive branch to authorize negotiations with the IDB within 30 days. "

He added that "... The President has authorized if the $134 million is not adjusted they will look elsewhere for more resources to finish the work. "
