Honduras: More Banana Cultivation

This plan has a dual role: firstly it seeks to increase banana production and secondly, improve the quality of bananas produced in order to be able to compete effectively with the other two major producers of bananas in the isthmus: Guatemala and Costa Rica " .

Honduras, which was once the world's largest producer of the fruit, is currently the third largest producer in Central America with an estimated production of 40 million cases, against the 100 million Guatemala produces and 90 million produced by Costa Rica, according to data provided by the union leader."
