From a statement issued by the Commission for the Promotion of Public Private Partnership (COALIANZA):

The commissioner of the Commission for the Promotion of Public Private Partnership (COALIANZA), Miguel Angel Gamez announced that in March they will be launching an international competition for a Modernization Project, for the Improvement, Management and System Operation of Immigration Control and Passport Issuance in Honduras.

The project consists of the development, execution and implementation of a system which will provide the country with a fast, efficient and safe system of regulation and migration control, including the issuance and passport control at national and international level at headquarters authorized for that purpose, explained the commissioner.

None of the four prequalified consortia submitted bids in the tender for the concession for the construction and operation of 106 kilometers of the West Corridor road.

Until the last days of last week the Commission for the Promotion of Public Private Partnership (Coalianza) sent communications regarding the opening on Monday of bids in this tender, important not only because of its volume and the need on the part of the Honduran economy for its realization, but also because the success of the tender would also be a success for the managers of Coalianza. But no one wanted to risk an offer.

Re-Launch of Tender for Palmerola Airport Analyzed

Currently being contemplated is the possibility of canceling the contract for the construction and management of the airport, awarded in January, and putting out a new tender for the procedure.

Due to the fact that airport safety in the country is now the responsibility of the government, the Commission for the Promotion of Public Private Partnerships (Coalianza) has announced that they are studying the possibility of canceling the contract which was awarded to Saisa, which included the management of security, and instead launching a new tender which would remove the issue of security from the contract.

Passport Issuance and Property Registration to Be Privatized

Using trusts the Government of Honduras will transfer into private hands the financing and operation of the system for passport issuance and property registration.

Authorization has been given to the execution of a trust agreement to run the studies required for the structuring, financing, development and operation of the Project entitled "Modernization, Improvement, Management and Operation of the Immigration System and Passport Issuance in Honduras."
