Honduras: 4.2% YoY Inflation Up to June 2018

The consumer price index registered a monthly variation of 0.41%, due to an increase in the prices of fuels, and some foods.

From a report by the Central Bank of Honduras: 

The monthly variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June of this year was 0.41%, driven mainly by higher prices of fuels, some foods and household items.  

Year-on-year, inflation stood at 4.15% (3.65% twelve months ago); meanwhile, accumulated inflation during the first semester of 2018 stood at 2.03%, lower than that observed in the same periods in 2016 and 2017 (2.27% and 2.60%, in its order).

The items that presented the greatest contribution to the variation of the CPI during the month analyzed were: "Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages" with 0.13 percentage points (pp); "Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels" with 0.11 pp; and, "Transportation" with 0.07 pp; with which these three categories explain 75.6% of the total inflation for the month.  For its part, the item "Hotels, Cafes and Restaurants" contributed 0.03 pp, and "Furniture and Articles for Home Conservation", "Clothing and Footwear" and "Personal Care" contributed 0.02 pp each, and "Health" with 0.01 pp.

Inflation Slows up to June 2019

Between May and June of this year, the inflation rate in Honduras decreased from 5.1% to 4.8%, mainly because of variations in transport prices.

The monthly variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), in June 2019, was 0.09%, lower than the observed twelve months ago (0.41%) and the lowest for this month since 2012, informed the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH).

The consumer price index recorded a monthly variation of 0.44%, due to an increase in the prices of urban passenger transport and some items of clothing.

In August 2018, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly variation of 0.44%, mainly determined by higher prices in urban passenger transport, as well some items of clothing.

Nicaragua: Annual Inflation 5.2% up to July 2018

During the seventh month of the year, the CPI recorded a monthly variation of -0.08%, mainly explained by the prices of Food and non-alcoholic beverages.

From a report by the Central Bank of Nicaragua:

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a decrease of 0.08 percent (0.39% in July 2017), mainly explained by the behavior of prices in some goods and services in the divisions of Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-1.04% ); and Communications (-0.02%); which together contributed 0.364 percentage points to the observed variation. In contrast, the Transportation division showed an increase of 1.45 percent (0.112pp). 

Nicaragua: Annual Inflation in July 2016 is 3,1%

August 2017

In July, there was a monthly variation of 0.39%, mainly explained by the behavior of food and non-alcoholic beverages, and also Restaurants and hotels.

From a report by the Central Bank of Nicaragua:

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly variation of 0.39% (0.32% in July 2016), mainly due to the performance of prices in some goods and services in the categories of Food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.41% ); Restaurants and hotels (0.48%); and Recreation and culture (1.28%), which together contributed 0.244 percentage points to the variation observed. In contrast, the category of Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, showed a variation of -0.35 percent (-0.004pp). [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]
