Honduras: Annual Inflation 6.34% Up to August

In July, the consumer price index registered an upturn of 0.14%, with the headings Clothing and Footwear, Health and Personal Care increasing the most.

From a statement from the Central Bank of Honduras:

The monthly variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 0.14% in August 2014, a decrease of 0.24 percentage points (pp) compared to that observed in the same month last year (0.38%). The slowdown is mainly caused by the decrease in prices in some foods (basically red beans) and fuel. Meanwhile, annual inflation was 6.34% and accumulated inflation in the period was 5.29%.

Of the 282 goods and services included in the CPI calculation, 76.60% reflected price increases, 13.83% remained unchanged and 9.57% had decreased; the latter having a high weighting in the overall indicator.

In February, the consumer price index registered a monthly variation of 0.64%, which is explained by an increase in the prices of education and of food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Honduras: Annual Inflation up to September 2016 is 2.90%

In September the consumer price index recorded a rise of 0.17%, placing inflation accumulated so far this year at 2.90%.

The Central Bank of Honduras reports that in September 2016, monthly inflation measured by the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 0.17%, which is higher than the amount twelve months earlier (-0.21% ). This behavior is mainly explained by the increase in fuel prices in the local market.  Annual inflation stood at 2.90% (2.76% in September last year) and accumulated inflation stood at 2.90%.

Guatemala: Annual Inflation to November 2015 is 2.51%

In November, the consumer price index recorded a rise of 0.47%, accumulating between January and November inflation of 2.63%.

The monthly change (0.47%) registered an acceleration compared to November 2014 (0.19%), while the accumulated (2.63%) and annual (2.51%) variations, recorded a slowdown in the price level compared to what was observed in November 2014.

The increase in the price of the dollar in the local market earlier this year and the general rise in prices of regulated and non-regulated goods is keeping underlying inflation rising.

Underlying inflation, which measures core inflation and disregards from the calculation more volatile goods and services has a clear upward trend, confirming a widespread and sustained increase in prices in the country.
