Honduras: Announces $31 million for irrigation

Using a loan from the Italian government the plan is to expand the Valle de Nacaome hydroelectric irrigation project, in the south of the country.

From a statement issued by the President of Honduras:

The governments of Honduras and Italy signed a loan agreement today for 31.5 million euros for the construction of the Nacaome Valley Hydroelectric Irrigation, Project which will contribute to the development of the southern zone.

The agreement was signed at the Palazzo della Regione Lombardia in Milan by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Honduras, Arturo Corrales, and Ambassador Mario Giro, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy.

Four Indian companies have submitted bids to build an irrigation system in the valley of Jamastrán, with funding from the Export Import Bank of India.

Tegucigalpa. In order to proceed with the implementation of the irrigation project in the Valley of Jamastrán, department of El Paraíso the authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture today opened the tender to several bidders in order to find which company is offering the best deal.

Cement Plant Announced in Honduras

The Honduran government has announced that it has signed an agreement with the italian Goldlake Group, to build a cement plant, with an estimated value of $200 million.

From a statement issued by the Presidency of Honduras:

Within the framework of the VII Italian-American Latin America and the Caribbean Conference, and with President Juan Orlando Hernandez as a witness of honor, the Government of Honduras also today signed an agreement with the Italian group Goldlake for the construction of a new cement plant in the country, at a cost of 200 million dollars.

Honduras: Conditions Put On Italian Loan for Hydropower

Failure to comply with the conditions set by Italy is threatening the $32 million needed to finish off the Nacaome dam.

In March an Italian mission will be visiting Honduras to discuss the progress of the commitments agreed in order for a loan to be granted for the Nacaome dam.
