Honduras: Construction of “Chamelecón” Dam Moves Forward

Adolfo Larach, president of the company declared that the estimated cost of the project is $ 34 million, and will be co-financed by “Banco del País” and “Banco Industrial de Guatemala.” The hydroelectric plant is located in the community of Sula.

Adolfo Larach told “Elheraldo.hn” that "in about 45 days we will set the cornerstone of hydroelectric project 'The Vegona'".

Tender of Hydroelectric Turbine for El Cajon

Officials in Honduras are negotiating a $70 million loan with the World Bank for a fifth turbine in the hydroelectric station El Cajon.

The process for installing the 75 MW turbine was going to be developed through a concession, but the plans have been changed and now the government has announced that it will be tendered, after negotiating funds with the World Bank, for the installation of the turbine in the plant.

$140 million to Expand Cachi Hydroelectric Station

The Costa Rican Institute of Electricity has signed a credit agreement with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration for the expansion works on the Cachi dam.

The works, which will begin later this year, include the construction of a new operation tunnel and modernizing the machinery.

Guatemala Authorizes 'Cuatro Chorros' Hydroelectric Plant

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) has given the company Generación Limpia ("Clean Generation") the go ahead for the construction of the hydroelectric power facility.

The 'Cuatro Chorros' ("four streams") project is to be carried out by Generación Limpia, part of the Spanish group, Unión Fenosa, and is located in Chicamán, Quiché, western Guatemala.
