Honduras: $53 million for Irrigation Systems

Two irrigation system construction projects are being prepared in different municipalities in the departments of Yoro, La Paz, Intibucá, Lempira, Atlántida, Cortés and Santa Bárbara.

The projects that will be executed are the Programa de Desarrollo Agrícola Bajo Riego (PDABR), and the Project of Competitiveness and Sustainable Development of the South Western Border Corridor (PRO-LENCA), whose investments will be $25.3 million and $27.8 million respectively..

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock:

In order to expedite the execution of programs and projects that are under the responsibility of the Project Management Unit (UAP) of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), Santiago Ruiz Secretary of State met with representatives from the UAP, the program coordinators as well as representatives from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE).

The government of the Republic through the SAG agreed to create the UAP with the objective of administering the programs and projects financed with external resources such as the CABEI and the IFAD.

Tegucigalpa. In order to proceed with the implementation of the irrigation project in the Valley of Jamastrán, department of El Paraíso the authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture today opened the tender to several bidders in order to find which company is offering the best deal.

Projected Investment of $120 million in Panamanian Agriculture

September 2011

Within the Ministry of Agriculture’s investment plans for 2012 is the construction of an irrigation system in the Tonosí Valley.

$32 million have been earmarked for this project in the province of Los Santos and the preparations at the sterile fly production plant in Pacora, while the 2012 budget has increased by 35% compared to 2011.
