Honduras: 4.1% Y-O-Y Inflation up to March 2019

Reported prices for electricity, fuel, some household items and clothing caused much of the monthly change in the CPI recorded in the third month of the year.

From the Central Bank of Honduras report:

In March 2019, the monthly growth of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 0.40%, mainly because of the increase in the prices of electricity supply, fuel, some household items and clothing. With this, year-on-year inflation stood at 4.14% (4.35% in the same month last year), and accumulated inflation at 1.21%, the lowest recorded for the first quarter since 2017.

The category that made the greatest contribution to monthly inflation was "Accommodation, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels" with 0.11 percentage points (pp), followed by "Clothing and Footwear" and "Furniture and Home Maintenance Items" with 0.06 pp each; "Transportation" and "Hotels, Cafes and Restaurants" with 0.04 pp each; the rest of the categories also registered positive contributions to the general price level, but with a lower incidence.

Other categories presenting monthly increases in their price index were: "Hotels, Cafes and Restaurants" with 0.59%; "Recreation and Culture" with 0.56%; "Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco" with 0.42%; "Personal Care" 0.32%; "Health" with 0.31% and "Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages" 0.11%.

The prices reported in the categories of Education, and Food and alcoholic beverages, largely explained the monthly variation of the CPI recorded in the second month of the year.

From the Central Bank of Honduras report:

The monthly growth of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in February 2019 was 0.77%, influenced mainly by the increase in the price of school fees at different levels of private education, as well as the higher price of some food and fuel. As a result, year-on-year inflation stood at 4.09% (4.33% twelve months ago), and accumulated inflation at 0.80%.

July 2018

The consumer price index registered a monthly variation of 0.41%, due to an increase in the prices of fuels, and some foods.

From a report by the Central Bank of Honduras: 

The monthly variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June of this year was 0.41%, driven mainly by higher prices of fuels, some foods and household items.  

Honduras: Annual Inflation to March 2017 is 3.94%

April 2017

In March a monthly variation was registered of 0.33%, mainly due to the behavior of prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages.

In the third month of this year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly growth of 0.33%; in addition, annual inflation was 3.94% and cumulative inflation was 1.65% (2.48% and 1.05% in March 2016, respectively).  [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]

Honduras: Annual Inflation to November 2016 is 3,04%

December 2016

In November, the consumer price index registered a variation of 0.14% and inflation accumulated so far this year is 3.04%.

The Central Bank of Honduras reported that in November the monthly variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 0.14%, an increase associated with the price increase in fuel and clothing.  This means that annual inflation stands at 3.04%, higher than the amount observed in the same month of the previous year (2.10%); similarly, accumulated inflation was 3.04%.
