In February 2016, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a monthly variation of 0.49%, influenced by an increase in the cost of tuition at different levels of private education (formal and informal) and because of the higher price of food such as corn, onion and tomato. Annual inflation stood at 2.92% and cumulativeinflation at 0.80%.

In the CPI product basket (consisting of 282 goods and services), 173 saw prices rise compared to the previous month, 31 reduced their price, with highlights being fuel and red beans; while 78 showed no change in their prices.

The Central Bank bank reports that the item that most contributed to monthly inflation was "Education" with 0.22 percentage points (pp); followed by "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" with 0.08 pp and "Clothing and footwear" with 0.06 pp. The "Transport" category, meanwhile, recorded a negative contribution of 0.02 percentage points.

In November, the consumer price index recorded a monthly variation of 0.49%, and for the second consecutive month, annual inflation was almost 4%.

From a report by the Central Bank of Honduras: 

The monthly increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 0.49% in November 2017, mainly associated with higher prices for food of agricultural origin and dairy products. With the above, an accumulated inflation of 4.05% has been registered and the year-on-year figure stands at 4.33% (3.04% for both indicators as of November 2016). [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]

Nicaragua: Annual Inflation up to March 2016 is 3.66%

The monthly variation in March was 0.12%, mainly explained by the behavior of prices of various goods and services and furniture and household items.

From a report by the Central Bank of Nicaragua:

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly variation of 0.12 percent (0.63% in March 2016), mainly explained by the behavior of prices of some goods and services in the divisions of miscellaneous goods and services (0.40%) Furniture, household items and routine household maintenance (0.31%) and Health (0.36%), which together contributed 0.068 percentage points to the observed variation. In contrast, in the division of Housing, water electricity, gas and other fuels there was a variation of -0.19 percent (-0.017pp). [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]

Costa Rica: Annual Inflation to September 2016 is 0.39%

October 2016

In September the consumer price index recorded a monthly variation of -0.47%, putting inter annual inflation at 0.39%, and inflation accumulated so far this year at 0.49%.

The groups with the greatest contribution to the CPI in September 2016 were Food and non-alcoholic beverages and Transport.

Nicaragua: Annual Inflation up to January 2016 is 3.19%

February 2016

In January, the CPI registered a variation of 0.11% and annual inflation stood at 3.19%, 2.26% lower than the figure for January 2015.

The Central Bank reported that the monthly inflation in January reflected a monthly variation of -0.11% (-0.25% in December 2015), mainly explained by lower prices in some goods and services in the divisions of recreation and culture (-6.69%), transport (-1.36%) and education (-0.22%), which together contributed -0.373% to the observed variation. In contrast the division of restaurants and hotels showed the opposite behavior with a variation of 0.59% (0,064pp).
