Honduras: $24 Million for Technology Investment

The National Congress approved a loan with the CABEI to finance the purchase of technological infrastructure for the survey of facial and fingerprints of citizens.

The loan contract between the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Government of Honduras will partially finance the Project to Modernize the Identification Document carried out by the National Registry of Persons (RNP), informed the National Congress.

The statement dated September 26 reviewed that "...  The loan contract with CABEI is part of RNP's Strategic Plan, specifically the "Identify Yourself" stage.

This stage consists of acquiring the technological infrastructure for the survey of facial and fingerprints of citizens through the massive enrolment of those over 16, and thus, have a new database that allows the printing of new identifications that meet international security standards
."
