Honduras: $23 million for irrigation

Through an agreement with the Indian company Apollo International Limited an irrigation project will be developed in the Jamastrán Valley, department of El Paraíso.

A statement from the government of Honduras explains that the agreement provides for the construction of 6 drip irrigation modules using surface water of the rivers Hato, San Antonio and San Francisco, on which a further 300 drip irrigation systems will be built in small five hectare modules.  

"... Through an agreement with the Government of Honduras, the Export Import Bank of India provided a loan in the amount of 22.5 million dollars for the implementation of the agricultural development project in the Jamastrán Valley."

Neveen Kapur, president of Apollo International explained that the project "... covers 3,750 hectares, of which 1,500 will be cultivated through wells and the rest, up to 2,250, will use the waters of the rivers".

Four Indian companies have submitted bids to build an irrigation system in the valley of Jamastrán, with funding from the Export Import Bank of India.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock in Honduras:

Tegucigalpa. In order to proceed with the implementation of the irrigation project in the Valley of Jamastrán, department of El Paraíso the authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture today opened the tender to several bidders in order to find which company is offering the best deal.

El Salvador: $6 million for Irrigation

Construction has been announced of an irrigation system for rice cultivation in the cantons San Cristobal and El Rosario, Santa Ana department, funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency.

The Cooperation Agency donated $4.5 million and the remaining $1.5 million will be provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Honduras: Announces $31 million for irrigation

Using a loan from the Italian government the plan is to expand the Valle de Nacaome hydroelectric irrigation project, in the south of the country.

From a statement issued by the President of Honduras:

The governments of Honduras and Italy signed a loan agreement today for 31.5 million euros for the construction of the Nacaome Valley Hydroelectric Irrigation, Project which will contribute to the development of the southern zone.

A call is being made to national and international companies to participate in a tender for a pre-investment study for a project for multipurpose reservoirs with high water storage capacity.

An article on Dca.gob.gt reports that the Ministry of Economy, through the Program for Rural Economic Development, is calling on national and international companies to participate in a tender for a pre-investment study, to develop a project of multipurpose reservoirs with high storage capacity (rainwater and river), for implementation of an irrigation system.
