Honduran Exports Up 19%

Between January and May sales abroad totaled $1.27 billion, 19.1% higher than the $1.06 billion in the same period of 2009.

The largest growth was in exports of coffee, sugar, palm oil, lead and textiles, according to data from the Honduran Central Bank (BCH).

"Imports also increased to $2.9 billion, up 14.6% for the period analyzed. This rise was mainly due to fuels, raw materials and consumer goods," reports Latribuna.hn.

Panama's exports grew by about 33%, those of Nicaragua by 30% , Guatemala’s by 27%, Honduras’ by 26%, El Salvador’s by 18% and Costa Rica’s by 10%.

The Central American countries together exported goods worth $52 billion in 2011, 22.3% more than in 2010, reported the Secretariat of Central American Economic Integration (Sieca) this week.

Salvadoran Exports Increase 12.3%

From January to May sales abroad totaled $1.8 billion, 12.3% more than in the same period of 2009.

Non-traditional exports are those that have performed best with a 9.1% increase. The main products exported were underwear and accessories; boxes; plastic bags and containers; iron, steel and their finished products; and paper products.

Central American Exports Up 20%

June 2010

Central American nations exported a combined $11.34 billion in the first quarter of 2010.

The figure is 20% higher than the same period of 2009, when the region exported $9.44 billion.

Sieca, the Central American Economic Integration Secretary, reported that growth was reported in many traditional products such as coffee, banana, sugar and oil palm.
