Good Forecasts for Honduran Cattle Farmers in 2018

The union for the sector reports that from January to March of this year, they have exported 1,200 tons of beef, and this year they expect to sell abroad around $22 million worth.

According to authorities at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), during the first quarter of the year there have been good numbers in sales abroad, reporting average exports of 400 tons per month.

Regarding what the sector can expect during this year, Héctor Ferreira, SAG's deputy secretary, explained to Laprensa.hn that " ... 'In terms of projection it is higher than what we exported in 2017 and we hope that as the climate improves we can have greater availability of animals and access the markets with which we already have a relationship and also enter others'."

The article adds that "... Livestock entrepreneurs expect that this year exports of products related to the sector will exceed $22 million, which is almost triple the shipments recorded last year. "
