Jorge Ulloa, president of the National Association Honduran Farmers told La Prensa that they "will continue exporting to Central American countries like Guatemala and El Salvador. They also want to open the market in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and the Caribbean," and that "they will continue exporting chicken legs to China."

He also noted that growth will be 10% because "chicken meat is the least expensive in the national market."

Panama: Poultry Sector Figures in 2016

The Panamanian producers' association reports that last year 104 million chickens were slaughtered and total egg production amounted to 654 million.

Figures from the National Poultry Association of Panama (Anavip) indicate an increase not only in poultry production but also in consumption. According to the National Poultry Activity Performance Index 2016, "... per capita chicken meat consumption stood at 90 lbs (41 kg), increasing by 3 lbs per person between 2015 and last year." 

Nicaragua: Projections for Poultry Production

March 2017

This year the union of poultry farmers has projected growth of 4% in the production of chicken meat compared to 2016.

The National Association of Poultry Farmers and Food Producers (ANAP) projected for this year a total production of 312 million pounds of chicken meat, slightly above the closing figure projected for 2016, of 300 million pounds. 

Nicaragua: Poultry Sector Consolidation

August 2015

Nicaraguan poultry farmers estimate that 2015 will close with a total production of 290 million pounds of meat and 600 million eggs.

Poultry Industry figures show that in the last 15 years national production increased from 104 million pounds of chicken meat in 2000 to 277 million in 2014.

The Panamanian Poultry Industry

May 2013

In 2012 there was increases of 5.8% in the production of chicken meat and 1.59% in egg production.

A report by the National Association of Poultry Farmers in Panama (ANAVIP) reveals that in 2012 86.9 million birds were slaughtered, and that per capita consumption of chicken went from 77 pounds per year in 2011 to 80 pounds per year in 2012.
