Health Insurance for Tourists in Panama

Two years ago Panama offered medical coverage at no cost for a period of 30 days to visitors entering via Tocumen International Airport.

"90% of the cases reported in 2013 corresponded to care in emergency rooms, of those 59 required hospitalization. Two deaths were also registered, in such cases the policy establishes $20,000 compensation for the families, reported Prensa.com.

The policy covers up to $7000 for hospitalization and medical expenses for injuries caused by accidents or illness and $40,000 for international transfer to a hospital. Most of those who sought medical assistance were tourists from the USA, Colombia and Venezuela.

Generali´s price was 1.95 U.S. dollars per person,..."

Tourists Will Get Extra Benefits in Panama

Tourists visiting Panama will receive accident, health and repatriation insurance.

The announcement was made by Salomón Shanah, director of the Panamanian Tourism Authority, who remarked that this insurance will also be extended to Panamanian citizens leaving the country.
