Health: $280 Million in Investments Projected

In the first half of 2019, 13 environmental impact studies were presented to build hospitals, clinics and other health care centers in the countries of the region, projects valued at $280 million.

The interactive platform "Construction in Central America", compiled by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, includes an up to date list of public and private construction projects for which environmental impact studies (EIA) were submitted to the respective institutions of each country.

Panama was the country with the largest investment, with nearly $170 million in infrastructure construction projects to provide medical services, corresponding to three environmental impact studies presented from January to June 2019. One of the most relevant projects is the construction of a five-story hospital.

Six studies were presented in Costa Rica, totaling an investment of approximately $107 million. Among the constructions that stand out is that of the "Hospital Dr. Maximiliano Peralta Jiménez."

In Guatemala, three hospital projects are expected to require an investment of around $2 million. In the case of El Salvador, it is planned to build a pharmacy, in which $50,000 will be invested.
