Guatemalan Exports Down 4.8% in 2009

In 2009, the country exported $4.8 billion, $239 million less than 2008, when it sold $5 billion.

Among traditional products, the worst performer was coffee, with sales dropping 11%, while sugar rose 25%, banana 53% and cardamom 66%.

The remaining products fared considerably worse, dropping 26%. Prensalibre.com reports that "only honey, minerals, food products and tobacco registered increases".
