Markus Schubert, president of the Guatemalan-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry -AHK-, explained to Prensalibre.com that "... This agreement not only seeks to export more coffee, but at better prices through new marketing and commercialization channels, thus taking advantage of the trend where German consumers are looking for a high-quality product, traceable and sustainable production, generating jobs in Guatemala."

Bernardo Solano, president of Anacafé, stated that "... After North America, the European market is the second most important for coffee exports. 24.6% of total exports go to Europe and 3.8% go specifically to Germany, a market with a lot of growth potential."

CentralAmericaData reports state that in the first quarter of 2019 the main coffee exporter in Central America was Honduras, with $323 million, followed by Guatemala, with $185 million, Nicaragua, with $130 million, Costa Rica with $75 million, El Salvador, with $32 million and Panama with $2 million.
