Guatemala to Open Trade Office in China

The administration of Pérez Molina has announced the upcoming opening up of a trade office in China.

From a statement issued by the Government of Guatemala:

President Otto Perez Molina said that as part of the objective of expanding trade relations and increasing Guatemalan exports to major international markets, trade with China is being promoted.

He stressed that the approach and exchange with China will be strengthened with the opening of a Guatemalan trade representation office in the so-called "Asian giant", one of the largest economies in the world.

The ruling stated that the installation of the commercial office was formalized during a working trip to China made by the Foreign Minister Carlos Morales.

"We know that China's economy is a major one worldwide, so during the visit of Foreign Minister Morales the opening up of this office was made official," he said.

Guatemala: Entrepreneurs and President Pérez to Travel to Spain

The commercial mission is planning to meet with representatives from Spanish business associations interested in investing in Guatemala.

The president will visit Spain from 12 to 15 February as part of a formal invitation, traveling with the ministers of Economy, Defense, Energy and Mines and the foreign minister.
