Guatemala puts $156 millions to tender for highways

Guatecompras has assigned contracts for the repair of more than 570 kilometers of roads throughout the country.

According to, "Previously, the Ministry of Communications reported that the cost of rebuilding the sections of roads that were damaged during the rainy season was Q750 million, but that the current figure from the Road Maintenance Fund (Covial) is Q1.22 billion for 572.18 kilometers of highway in the country.

Road Tender for $38 Million in Guatemala

The project consists of a 156-kilometer route which will divert the InterAmerican Highway in Chimaltenango.

According to the bidding rules, the route will have 4 lanes measuring 3.60 meters and will start in El Tejar, 48 km from the main highway and will reconnect with the same highway at km 63.

EU funds highway in Nicaragua

The European Union funded a highway in a coffee growing region of Nicaragua with $15.6 million.

The project, which began in January 2007 and will end this year, will connect the city of Jinotega with the El Guayacán village, 170 kilometers north from Managua, in a widely used route in the coffee business.
